Anton Doppelbauer

Anton Oskar Doppelbauer was born on the 30th of August, 1999, in Feldkirch, Austria and started playing horn at the age of six while attending the local music school. There, he first had lessons with Atanas Stoev, followed by Christoph Ellensohn and Andreas Schuchter. From 2009 to 2015, Doppelbauer was part of a talent program at the Conservatory in Vorarlberg before he began his pre-college studies at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater München” in 2015. From 2018-2022, he studied his bachelor’s degree at the same institution with prof. Johannes Hinterholzer and prof. Carsten Duffin. Beginnig October 2022 he will switch university for his master's degree and continue his studies with prof. Christoph Eß in Würzburg. Various masterclasses, for example the “Internationale Horntage in Telfs”, gave him the opportunity to have lessons with prof. Radovan Vlatkovic, prof. Jörg Brückner, prof. Christian Lampert, Hasko Kröger, Premsyl Vojta, and prof. Raimund Zell. The young horn player also has scholarships from the “Jan Koetsier Stiftung München” and the “Internationale Musikakademie im Fürstentum Liechtenstein”. Doppelbauer won several 1st and special prizes at the Austrian music competition “Prima la Musica”. In October 2019 he won 1st prize and a special prize to record with Bavarian Radio at the “11.Internationaler Jan Koetsier Wettbewerb” with Raclette Quartett. Besides playing in various national youth orchestras, such as the “Wiener Jeunesse Orchester”, he was and still currently part of prestigious international youth orchestras like the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra (2018) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (2020). Doppelbauer was a member of the “Bayerische Orchesterakademie” played with orchestras like “Augsburger Philharmoniker”. Since November 2020 he is holding the position of 2nd horn with the "Nürnberger Symphoniker" and plays as a substitude in orchestras like "Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg" or "WDR Symphonieorchester".
